In Long
Island City Queens we celebrated the snazzy second birthday of the Entrepreneur
Space, a food and business incubator. Over 60 products were showcased, from
soup to nuts! Literally. Soup, sambals, stews…mustard, bbq sauce, breads,
savory tempeh, Australian pot pie, countless desserts, wine, nuts.
There was
an abundance of nut products overall, some toasted with cacao, some more
savory, sweet varieties, made into butter. Chocolate was another predominant
item, which certainly made me smile from my belly. Truffles infused with herbal
essences such as rose and lavender, vegan items sans dairy, gluten-free cookies
and brownies galore!
I rather enjoyed the Dauphin Bakery
treats, a vegan and gluten-free company owned by the sweetest girl who wears blue
glasses that match perfectly to her logo. I tasted her products first at the
veggie festival and was excited to taste the morsels again. The Brewla ice pop
company won for super attractive package design although the name itself led me
a bit astray. I was thinking/hoping the
pops would be boozy but in fact are sober. Oh well. The “Lick Well, Live Well”
slogo is sexy and fun. Keenwa Krunch was another fav, a quinoa based
granola-esque snack produced by an adorable set of brothers adorning matching
t-shirts. Their upcoming big-chew gum package design is awesome.
Wow. It
is amazing to see that food items are overall moving in a direction of health.
There were few meat items or foods laden with white sugar and fat. Go humans
go!
You could taste the LOVE!
